I currently work for a place for mom, but I recently gave my notice. I had a lot of heart and soul in this company, but recently learned I am disposable. I have seen strong people come and go quickly. This company has potential, but they need to value their employees. Everyone is disposable. They will never grow to their potential if they continue to devalue their employees. There is so much negativity in this sales organization. It truely is disheartening to put your heart into something and to realize that you are not valued. I am usually a very positive person, but you can only be devalued so many times. In the last 3 monthes 3/4 of our team has left or been fired. A Place for mom sets sales goals that are unattainable. They have very few long term advisors. Look around, there is so much out there to deter you from wanting to work for this company. Make sure your decision is well thought out and educated.

A Place for Mom can be a great work experience for the right person. Be prepared to work 50+ hours per week for COMMISSION ONLY. There could be more positive reinforcement for employees instead of the constant negative reminders that you must meet your numbers for any given month. It is a numbers driven business but could use some help with management style. This company has a lot of potential for growth and should focus on employee retention even if it means there are fewer advisors in the market. A few good advisors can do the work of 20 average ones.

I worked here for one year. They never paid me what they owed me. In addition to all the heartache involved in placing people in assisted living, you are also respopnsible for collecting the fees from the facilities. And they don't like to pay and come up with all reasons for non-pay. The ones that do pay take months and APFM sits on the commission $$. You can wait many months to get paid on a placement you worked your guts out for! IF you get paid. BTW, a class action settlement was granted former employees in the amount of millions! Haha. God does not like ugly!

It's a sham to the people they try to hire -- intentionally misleading them during the interview process. Upon learning that only CONTRACTED properties were eligible for referralduring the interview process I of course asked how many were here in New England.

The answer was, (specifically from Pam Talon, the Regional Manager at the time) "they'd be crazy not to contract with us". Just a pile of crap to hide the bad partnership numbers here, and systemic reasons behind them.

There's alot I could say now but won't. Stay away from this outfit, far away. Very bad deal.

This is a bad company with some good people. If you do well being micromanged, having your phone calls listened to and counted, this would be a fine place for you. The concept is ideal - work from home, help people find senior care. The reality is that morale is low, there is no type of motivation except being told you are not doing enough even when you are making your goals and quotas. And to top it off, you are harassing people more than you are helping. You can only close a lead if someone has DIED. Imagine how awkward it is to call someone who inquired online six months ago to be told they no longer need your services because Mom passed away. If you feel you can handle a draw position that is essentially 100% commission, but you are treated as if the company owns you body and soul, then go for it.

I've been with the company for almost 4 years and love it! The flexibility of working from home and being in control of my earning potential are the best parts of the job. The healthcare benefits could be better for families, but other than that I don't have any major complaints. Another review mentioned change and there is certainly a lot of change, but it's all done in an effort to grow and make the company healthier for it's employees. If you fear change, need a structured corporate 9-5 office environment and want to have a cap on your income, then this is not the job for you.

I have been with the company for almost two years, and they are constantly changing. It is a commission job that treats you like you are salaried. It is completely numbers driven. Think twice about considering this corporation. It isn't what it seems.

This is a great company to work for as long as you are hard-working and can handle draw/commission. You get to work out of a home office and visit with area communities and businesses. I really enjoyed the flexibility that they offered and that I got paid for the hard work that I would put in. There are over 300 advisors across the country and they all have different experiences that we could all draw from and strengthen our own business.

The only downside is that while you may have accomplished quite a bit in your territory there was no promise that you would continue to have a job with the company if you moved to another area. They are EXTREMELY numbers driven and really could care less if you loved the job and were loyal to the company.
