I worked for avi for five years. a first it wasnt bad, then you really get to see what they are like. all the supervisors where i was at weroue thieves. they stole from co workers accounts and blamed you .then of course you were fired or just treated so badly you quit.one of the supervisors stole so much money she paid cash for her house, but she still had a job.if you do not act the way they want you to they get rid of you. the people at corp office are no better, they do belittle you any time any where they dont care.i dont know how they are still in bussiness.this is a horrible company to work for.i could go on for days. and hey dont care about yoursafty either. i was almost robbed they didnt cae just old e to go finish my route i was a wreck.dont work for them and if u do get out as soon as u can.

Avi has no respect for their employees. They total lack any communication skills, everything is a secret. They do not listening to any input from long time employees. Here at Wellesley College the food was awesome until they took over in 2009. Avi is so cheap they do not want to spend the money to purchase quality food for the cooks to prepare. The managers are rude. They will short stafff a shift just to save money. They do not follow their own core values. They lie all the time. Hr dept is the worst i have ever seen. 2010 alumna weekend was a total joke, nothing went right.

avi employees get no respect, low pay, no respect, and no matter how good of a job you do, you will never get promotions or even a nice word. managers mentally harass their employees and nobody ever gets raises. the higher up people are crooked and can/will fire anyone based on personal opinion. the entire company has no morals and will do whatever neccessary to make a penny, no matter who has to pay a price. avi is NOT a good place of employment!!

I can only speak for the corporate HQ in Warren, Ohio, not the various branch locations. In a nutshell I would not wish working for this company on my worst enemy! The ownership and many managers are simply brutal human beings. They berate and belittle people in front of peers on a regualr basis. They verbally abuse both employees and suppliers. They simply do not value their employees whatsover. The turnover rate is unbelievable because of the way people are treated. Not just among "entry level" positions, but middle and upper management positions as well. Over the last 2 or 3 years they have lost literally dozens of intelligent, hard working, good people because of the way they were treated by ownership--and that's in a bad economy. What does that tell you? Their mission statement starts with "integrity first" which is total B.S. because they have no integrity. There is no loyalty to employees or suppliers. They will screw over a long-time supplier with an excellent track record just to save a penny. They essentially view suppliers as adversaries rather than partners, and employees as a piece of equipment that can simply be replaced. I never experienced a work environment anything like AVI before and I can't imagine there are too many other companies like it anywhere. The whole place has a very negative vibe as you can imagine. Everyone is always stressed out and on edge because they don't know when or where the next verbal "beating" will come from. Because of that, there is a paranoia that is pervasive throughout the organization which is not conducive to a positive or effective work environment. I was actually warned by several people before I took the job that AVI is known for "chewing people up and spitting them out". Quite simply the family that owns the company are some of the worst human beings I've ever come across. Someone who's known and dealt with them for many years once commented to me: "They have no soul". I'd say that about sums it up.

well i don't really know were to start. i've been an employee of a.v.i for the last 7 years, not by choice but because of contractual situations. they preach family values and integrity but they actually care about none of them. now i am only talking about the branch that i work for, but reading all these posts i guess it's company wide.
i am in a union so all things considered the pay is adequate. raises go by the contract.
respect is at a minimum. and that goes back to the "core values" of a.v.i.
they mean nothing. you have a family............so what...........
you have a health problem...so what......
they'll spit you up and chew you out like bubble gum.
the benefits suck everywhere so i can't really comment.

if you are a suck up then you advance, otherwise it doesn't matter. "integrity" really means nothing inn this company
