I'd been unemployed for six months in a very narrow job market when I'd been offered to start at ARSI's Las Vegas call center. If I knew then what I know now, I would've kept looking, faltering economy and all. Working at ARSI is like Lord of the Flies meets Office Space.
Expect none of your co-workers to behave ethically to you or your customers and your supervisors to be routinely dismissive and frequently condescending. Personal attacks and nepotism are discouraged on paper while they are encouraged in practice. ARSI is the perfect example of why teamwork is effective-- because so many of their 'me first' practices aren't. Without exaggeration, and without naming names: Physical violence has been threatened against myself and others on the floor, loudly, publicly, on-camera, without repercussions for the aggressors.
On the bright side, there is plenty of room for a personal life— because you'll only be getting about half of the hours you signed on for.
This was not my first collections job, but it will definitely be my last.
