American sales company is a warehouse facility located on Walden Ave in Lancaster NY. I worked there as a tower selector. Basically selecting product off shelves for stores like Tops and Giant. Overall I do not recommend working there. The pay at ASC is excellent as well as the benefits. Starting rate is 10/hr. That's the ONLY positive thing. There is no respect by the supervisors. The one I had "Steve' was extremely un-fair, wouldn't listen to what we (selectors) have to say. As far as job security, if you mess up or go against the grain you better believe they would not hesitate to make your life a living hell. Job security doesn't exist at ASC.
Work life there is ok if you like repetition. I suggest investing in an IPOD to make your day go by quicker. The career growth there is non-existent as well. Some selectors there have been doing the same job for 15+yrs. I was there for 2yrs and did the same thing day in and day out. The location was ok for me as it only took me 5-10mins to get to and from work.
The co-workers are mix matched as long as you can deal with drama and people who love backstabbing you'll be ok. Some people there are really awesome and are very friendly and other ones would love to bury you if you look at them wrong. There is a huge turn-over rate at this company as they hire 8 people a week, which means they lose 8 people a week.
I had quit this job and got a better job as I was constantly put on suspension due to errors. Errors is what you get when the wrong product gets selected and you get audited. Another thing I hate about this company is the fact that the supervisors will randomly change the methods and procedures and expect people to learn and follow it. I have also talked to ex employees who were either fired or quit and nobody likes it there. A buddy of mine worked there and got fired due to a back injury at home, another friend of mine had occasional seizures and got fired because of it. He then filed a law-suit for discrimination and won.
So I DO-NOT recommend working there. Don't waste your time applying there as it's not worth your time and aggravation. I should also point out. If your single or looking for love, be very careful on some of the women there. Everybody has been sleeping with everybody, so don't get tied into the drama. Stay away from American Sales Company.
