Get ready to be spied on. You will constantly be monitored, whether through GPS equipment tracking your every move in the broken vehicle you are required to drive constantly, or through binoculars from a fat loser with no family life. Very strongly considering taking a minimum wage job over this nasty little place.

Horrible company to work for. As said before it is whose ass you kiss that gets you promoted. I am a CPO and lost vacation pay just before I was to get it because they moved me to another site. The office is terrible and favoritism is rampant. I get tired of seeing 22 year old "Captains" who have barely any real world experience and couldn't find their behinds with both hands and a hunting dog. As soon as the economy improves I will be out of here. Until then I am biding my time.

Very few good working sites. They expect drooling mindless lumps for employees. Supervision by emotion not experience. The road Major is a screming idiot, constantly threatening to fire someone to boost his lack of self esteem and ability to supervise.

I have seen many CPOs and supervisors come and go even on the 3rd Site manager I really think it depends on who you work for all together not just the company. But as far as the "big picture' I don't think the big company really cares for thier employees well I know they don't they are not a very good company to try to move up in I guess it would be an ok job for someone just moving through but not someone trying to make a career out of it.

To start off my supervisors are mainly wanna be cops and or just plain idiots. Most of my co-workers are former military, but this company would rather have "Captains" who have no military or police background to” stupid vise” since they are easily intimidated by the client. Pay is below average unless an individual is able to work 16 hours overtime a week just to survive. Zero potential for career growth, and work life balance depends on the site. Location depends on how lucky that an individual is to get a descent site close to home. Respect is minimal due to the fact the company hires incompetent people, so the competent officers are put in the same category as the other idiots. Work environment depends on the site. Job security depends on how much individual plays golf with the site manager.

As far as any retired Police, and or Military proceed as if you were in a land mine field due to the fact the upper management is a joke. The Wackenhut Corp is all about warm bodies the hiring process should be changed to placing a mirror under a potential candidate’s nose, and if it fogs up "You are hired". Custom Protection Officer is a joke as well I am CPO, and I have never even used my fire arm or worn my "Barney Fife" uniform. Please do not get sucked into the lies, and be another exploited employee.

Pay is average or above average. Respect is minimal from managment. benefits are comparable to other corporate profiteers. Job security is comparable to the industry. work/life balance is fair depending on site, but you're forced to work overtime to make a livable wage. ZERO potential for promotion, unless your supervisor dies of a heart attack. Location quality depends where you get stuck, so it varies. Co-worker compentence is good in this lousy economy, lots of bright folks being exploited. Lots of idiots also. work enviorment varies.

The whole "CPO" thing (Custom Protection Officer) is a joke. There's nothing "Custom" about an over-the-hill guard carrying a revolver and wearing a Barney Fife uniform. FORMER VETS AND COPS...proceed with caution from this company and it's deceptive methods. If you are a college kid or just simply uneducated, then this is an adequate job.

The pay can be okay for what you are doing, but is usually god awful (at or right above minimum wage). Respect? The public, of course, has no respect for security guards. Your co-workers may be friendly, but they of course will not have respect for you because you are a security guard just like them. Benefits have a relatively high monthly payment and high deductible. Job security is terrible, you will be knocked down to part-time if you are full-time more than once due to lost contracts (resulting from incompetent management and workers). The work is so easy that work/life balance can be good, but you will be called in almost every day on your day off. If you work here, you know exactly what I'm talking about. You can say no, but they will never help you out again (even if you have said yes every other time). Locations can be okay, but are either terribly boring or very dangerous (as in minimum wage for "guarding" public housing projects unarmed). Co-worker competence is awful. I mean bottom of the barrel awful. You would not believe how many of these people think they are cops. Always...ALWAYS too many chiefs not enough Indians. Work Environment overall is boring, depressing, you know you aren't living up to your potential...do yourself a favor and skip this company. To best sum up Wackenhut, it is like the Wal-Mart of security. A depressingly unfunny joke of a job.

They're all a bunch of no good maggot farmers - they do my fingerprinting for a job that I had gotten from two different agencies, and then said my fingerprints were in error. I think that the place who did the hiring should use their own fingerprinting and not these lowlifes called Wackenhut.
