Pay - not good at all for the expectations and demands. In contrast with other companies, very low.
Respect - none from management; none. They second-guess every decision a claims representative makes, which causes needless repetition of work and in many cases, needless documentation. They seem to be terrified of being sued or looked at closely by the Dept. of Insurance; so they have no respect at all for a representative's decisions.
Benefits - I suppose the benefits are better than none; but the cost just increased and the benefits decreased. Compared to other companies, not good at all.
Job security - not good at all. Our branch is one of the largest in the Northwest, and I don't know anyone that isn't afraid for the next "axe to fall" and management's outright deceit doesn't contribute to a sense of security or well-being.
Work/Life Balance - only if you stop the moment your shift ends, and walk out the door. But that rarely happens; all of my co-workers still feel a sense of duty to the poor customer who has no idea what's going on, so we stay and we work and some of us take our laptops home to stay caught up to some degree.
Career Potential/Growth - not so much. In fact, not at all any time soon and certainly if you aren't a member of a demonstrably "Special Interest" group or "Celebrating Some Weird Diversity" group, forget promotion.
Location - ok. In light of the ability to go virtual, this company is way behind in technology. So the branch offices are near or in large communities/cities.
Co-worker competence - the representatives themselves are for the most part, very competent and good workers. Some are badly disillusioned and disgusted, so that affects their performance. But overall, pretty competent bunch.
Work Environment - terrible. The "Open Door" policy doesn't exist and neither does the "Confidentiality" aspect. Those few that thought they could appeal to a manager's sense of right and honesty, are still pulling the knife out of their backs as far as the Open Door policy goes. And the Confidentiality in this company is nil - anything you say or write, even in the spirit of true concern and wanting to help, will be forwarded as high up as possible in a "desire to develop the representative/supervisor/manager" and they will know EXACTLY who said/wrote it. And you'll pay for it. Badly. We paste smiles on our faces, try to be grateful that we have a job for the time being, and share job-hunting info. when we're clear outside of the building.
