Pay - not good at all for the expectations and demands. In contrast with other companies, very low.
Respect - none from management; none. They second-guess every decision a claims representative makes, which causes needless repetition of work and in many cases, needless documentation. They seem to be terrified of being sued or looked at closely by the Dept. of Insurance; so they have no respect at all for a representative's decisions.
Benefits - I suppose the benefits are better than none; but the cost just increased and the benefits decreased. Compared to other companies, not good at all.
Job security - not good at all. Our branch is one of the largest in the Northwest, and I don't know anyone that isn't afraid for the next "axe to fall" and management's outright deceit doesn't contribute to a sense of security or well-being.
Work/Life Balance - only if you stop the moment your shift ends, and walk out the door. But that rarely happens; all of my co-workers still feel a sense of duty to the poor customer who has no idea what's going on, so we stay and we work and some of us take our laptops home to stay caught up to some degree.
Career Potential/Growth - not so much. In fact, not at all any time soon and certainly if you aren't a member of a demonstrably "Special Interest" group or "Celebrating Some Weird Diversity" group, forget promotion.
Location - ok. In light of the ability to go virtual, this company is way behind in technology. So the branch offices are near or in large communities/cities.
Co-worker competence - the representatives themselves are for the most part, very competent and good workers. Some are badly disillusioned and disgusted, so that affects their performance. But overall, pretty competent bunch.
Work Environment - terrible. The "Open Door" policy doesn't exist and neither does the "Confidentiality" aspect. Those few that thought they could appeal to a manager's sense of right and honesty, are still pulling the knife out of their backs as far as the Open Door policy goes. And the Confidentiality in this company is nil - anything you say or write, even in the spirit of true concern and wanting to help, will be forwarded as high up as possible in a "desire to develop the representative/supervisor/manager" and they will know EXACTLY who said/wrote it. And you'll pay for it. Badly. We paste smiles on our faces, try to be grateful that we have a job for the time being, and share job-hunting info. when we're clear outside of the building.

My MMR manager is great but the douche above him is so out of touch it makes me sick. Just one more thing to do, just one more thing, sooner or later the glass is full and can not hold one more thing. Talk on the phone and drive you get fired, but we want you to drive 4-5 hours a day, do 4 or more inspects spread all over the place, make your call backs by 10:00 in the morning and then if you don't reach the owner call them again in the evening. All this for NPS, really customers don't really give a crap about you calling them on the phone, they want cheap rates and no LKQ A/M parts on their cars.
Our team works hard and wants to achieve but how long can all you hear be negative before you just stop feeling you can do what is ask of you. It is real easy for guys behind a desk and phone to say do this and do that b/c they really do not have to deal with the backlash from the customers and vendors.
FInal thought, our team just had a review and we had a exceeds review but you would think we were the biggest bunch of failures by the way all the team members feel the could loose their jobs at anytime.

I have worked here for a while, and overall its been an good experience for me personally. I think that quite a few things should be done differently...I am well aware that each person may have differing opions on what is good or bad when it comes to working for someone else, the absolute perfect job or employer doesn't exists anywhere there will always be people who are at least content and those whom are discontent no matter what, thats just human nature. It's shocking and sad though to see such low morale of peers/ employees of progressive, and at that at the top of the list of companies with the most unhappy employees. Too bad this information is not used by progressive to gauge employee morale or loyalty..Stop being afraid to tell how you feel about work conditions on progressive surveys...maybe you will sleep better at night and maybe some change will come.

Worst company I have ever worked for. I was there over 2 years and finally burned out/gave up. Everyone I worked with is overloaded and stressed out. Nobody can manage this unreasonable workload (lately well over 120 features per month) If a manager for some reason picks you as the person they don't like, watch out, your life will be hell, and if you file an HR complaint, things will just get worse. For those that are sleeping with a manager, I'm sure the job is great.
I don't think I have ever felt so much relief as when i was driving away from the building for the last time. Best choice I ever made.
If I had to see another meeting that was just a bunch of managers talking about being managers and patting themselves on the back, I think I would vomit.
If you have to leave work on time, this job is not for you. Not working overtime is heavily frowned upon, and you don't get paid for it.
Again, worst company ever to work for. The benefits are awful now, and the cost for the insurance is now going up.
Good luck to everyone still there, I hope you can leave soon.

Pay - Solid for those doing a good job. For the whiners on here who have a problem with it, they should think about focusing more on their job than on whining.

Respect - Good. Unfortunately there are bad apples like those whining here.

Benefits - Best in Cleveland. For those whining, go try another place and you will learn.

Job Security - See Pay above

Work / Life Balance - Good for those who know how to manage their time and focus on the right things. For the whiners on here, they haven't figured it out yet.

Career Potential / Growth - Solid - see Pay above

Location - Mayfield is a wonderful location

Co-worker Competence - Aside from the whiners on here, the other coworkers are well skilled and actually want to contribute to a great place to work.

Work Environment - Good. It will be better once the whiners move out either by choice, or eventually by the result of their slackness.

Please stop picking on the positive posters. They are not management - management isn't that bright. Their heads are stuck so far up that they couldn't find a keyboard let alone use one. No, these are probably truly deluded morons who think that the abusive nature of their jobs is a satan-given right of employers.

Pay sucks. There is no question that getting 1 complete day off each quarter year is a bonus.

Respect only exists for the pals of HR and the bed-mates of the bosses. Fortunately, they are equal opportunity as seen from the number of gays in the place. I haven't seen so many fruits since my visit to San Francisco.

Benefits used to be better when you at least received something for your money. Now it is like the commercial. Management is a pig in which one drops the few pennies you earn and get to squeal from the honor of being robbed by your boss.

Job security exists as long as you accept the abuse and look the other way at immoral employment practices.

Balance exists if it means lots of overtime for the job and your family gets to balance not seeing you vs not eating if you quit.

Your career can always grow if your knee pads are thick enough and you have enough tissues to wipe your nose.

I haven't seen so many poorly designed buildings before. Fortunately, whenever it rains through the windows that there is plenty of floor space for the water to pool.

There are a few competent workers left (like me) surrounded by the brain dead and the "never had a thought to begin with". at least watching these morons is entertaining - hey add a new score for entertainment and this place will get all +5.

The environment does promote growth - like any pile of manure.

Come on folks. Try harder. With a little effort, this place can top (or is it bottom) out at -10,000 again.

Pay: I'm on the CRT Unit. We are underpaid for the crap we deal with. All other CSR's get to dump their calls and remain inept.

Respect: Again CRT gets no respect. It's laughable that our job titles in the system are identical to most of the incompetent people who don't understand basic underwriting or common sense.

Benefits: It's nice to have them, but they're pricey and Aetna's dental plan sucks compared to the old plan.

Job Security: Ha! That's hilarious. Everyone is concerned that they're looking for anything to fire people.

Work/LIfe Balance: The Instructional Designers gave a survey wanting to know how CRT reps felt about expanding their role and doing MORE stuff that basic reps should be able to do. Some responses included the suicidal tendencies of those who join this "elite" group to get dumped on. i.e. it sucks.

Career Potential/Growth: There have been no promotion opportunities in over 3 years in the phones group. I'm shocked they hire newbies who only transfer calls a day at such a high rate. They're overpaid.

Location: It's a building, it's got offensive art pieces one must walk by every day just to go to the bathroom. It's amazing how Progressive they are about changing insignificant stuff all the time, but can't figure out how Working from home in a better way.

Co-worker competence: There are few good ones in the bunch, however there are countless idiots who work there, thus making the work harder for those who have a clue. They've cut back training and don't even license base csr's anymore, which has definitely impacted the amount of incompetents being hired. Again, there are some good ones, but sadly most in phones should be worried.

Work Environment: It's awful. People should not want or prefer to get into a car accident instead of going to work, but that is how people feel. Many are so paranoid they inflate company survey numbers out of fear their feedback will be used against them.
How a company can still earn such an obscene profit and not take employee mental health seriously is pathetic and you can't trust anyone.

For all of those who bitch, whine and complain.... don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. Ask the good employees who were RIF'd in May that are still unemployed...... how easy is it out there to get a job? Sounds like you shouldn't be so unhappy to get a paycheck every other week. If it sucks that bad, why don't you just leave?

Progressive did not "need" to layoff anyone. They were still making money and the bigwigs were still making thousands and millions. They are just using the economy as an excuse to make more money. This use to be a company that cared about its employees. We were loyal to Progressive because they treated us well and we were respected. Not sure why higher-ups are so surprised there is no loyalty from employees any longer. If you don't give respect and loyalty, you don't get any in return. My five year old understands that concept. Too bad Progressive does not.

Pay: Good starting out. From there you will be given 0-3% raises even if you meet/exceed.
Respect: None
Benefits: Used to be great, now are average or below average for the industry.
Job Security: None. For the posters who say only the bad or dead-weight employees were laid off this year,
you are very mistaken. Some of the best employees were let go.
Work/Life Balance: Absolutely none.
Career Potential/Growth: Absolutely none. The grass is not always greener even if you do get promoted. Most team leaders do not make much more than reps. They keep you wanting a promotion, but once you get it you get a big surprise. A small raise or none.
Location: Great
Co-Worker Competence: I worked with some of the brightest people.
Work Environment: Bad and getting worse.

The leaders of this company don't have a clue.
