I would just like to comment on a few things about the A&P. The company is in a new direction?
I have been around the company for a long time, and here are few things that never, ever change
Incompetant District Managers
lazy Store mgrs, and too many bad Co-managers
the resistance to work a full shift, while on a salary.
Leaving anyone in charge of the store, especially in the evening, so they can run home early.
Being paid for a 45 hour week, when only in the store about 35 hours.
The District manager inability to ever notice what really goes on in the stores, why? because he is
basically the same way, or he does not want to know.

This does not include all mgr"s or co-managers, but, it is a staggering amount of do nothing
people, who are being paid great wages and benefits. The real work is really completed, by a few clerks
in each store, who are very very overworked. Even the basic work of a Mgr, or Co-manager is performed
by a part timer or full time clerk, day in and day out.

Why is the company paying so many extremely LAZY incompetant people?
District Managers, start by checking your stores, in the evening, especially the hours of 9pm to 11pm.
and get off your damned Blackberries. I think you may be shocked to know your Co"s have gone home early, in alot of cases hours early. Sent in some one who is not known to these people. It is a common
occurance. I challenge you to really find out, who is, and who is not worth half what they are paid.

Because this behavior and other sickining things are happening, on a routine basis, and Never addressed
by so called higher-ups, says alot about the Company, and its Management.

Find out what really is going on in your stores, not just when they know your going to visit. WAKE UP..
The northeast is a mess. My sense, is that, you have to go alot higher then a District Manager, for they
never seem to know what is really happening........... get rid of the Dead Wood

To the few dedicated employees and management in some stores, this IS not meant for you.

I was in the midst of a Happy career with a supermarket when A recruiter from A&P contacted me about joining them as a General Store Manager. The company never had a good reputation for loyalty, so I blew them off. They kept calling me and, after learning that there was a new ownership group steering the company in new direction, I left a good job to join A&P for the increase in pay. Six months later, a person from loss prevention came to my store to address an employee who was cashing bad checks. Two days later, I was called by HR to tell me that I was being fired. The reason was because the Loss Prevention woman saw a soda on my desk and said I had no paid sticker or receipt attatched to it. She never bothered to ask me for the receipt (which was right in my pocket) the day she was there. They waited two days to address it. After pleading my case and reminding them that I had left behind a good career to join them, they promptly fired me for breaking policy. Terrible company to work for. I would not advise shopping at any of thier stores either. The one I was assigned to was so rat infested, and it didnt phase anyone. Every person is out to justify thier job, and little gets accomplished. Thier reputation as a flailing retailer is fully in tact, and they have no consideration for people with families. In short, I was a General manager and was fired for not having a paid sticker on a soda. Give me a break!!!!
