The pay was okay considering it was a child care facility...still not great with my experience. I'm a college student so of course I'm not going to get much respect. There are no benefits offered through this company. My boss unfortunately, was the biggest problem with my job...but whose isn't?! Everything I did was never good enough. You are constantly criticized for the work you do. And I had to work every weekend for "parent's night out" until midnight. While doing so I had to work with the boss (owner) and she never helped me even when I had over 10 children to work with she never got off of her computer, but while she was not helping me she was criticizing me the whole time. If she didn't like how I was doing things, then she needed to show me! It was only my 2nd week of work. So that definately was a minus. Every night during closing time, you have to clean of course, but I would have to clean all by myself! The boss would never help me, neither would one of the other employees. But she never got in trouble for it...although there are cameras all over the place that are watched on a regular basis.
I admit I was terminated from this job, but it was "without cause" that's the main problem with A Place to Play. She has you sign something before you are hired on that says she can fire you with or without cause. So I never found out why I was terminated, even after emailing her to find out. I'm not saying this because I was a victim of the dreaded "your're being terminated" phrase, but I'm saying these things because I'm not the only one she has done this to. She runs her buisness purely off of emotion (ex: If she has a bad day, everyone has a bad day). I have never been fired before, and being fired for no reason is definately irritating. I feel incredibly sorry for the next person who replaces me! Good luck!
