As I am filling out the application it has a 500 word essay on why I want to work at home. That in itself is crazy!! Anyone else have to do this?

Career Potential/Growth

-5

Work Environment

-5

I worked for Alpine on the Sprint program for 11 months and was absolutely miserable about 90% of the time. The pay is a joke, $9.25 for escalations to get screamed and cussed at every call. There is absolutely no support what so ever. The first team lead I was with was bad, not the worst but not the best. I had a personel problem with her and I was put on a different team with a lead I loved. The whole time I was on her team it was wonderful, didn't have any problems. She was reactive, she talked in the room, she answered questions and she was someone that would go out of her way to help you. Unfortunately she changed shifts and I got moved to the absolute worst situation I have ever been in. The team leads in the room I went to completely ignored the room. Ask them a direct question and they ignored it. Forget getting them to take manager calls, they would absolutely tell you no. When I asked what needed to be done, I was told I was out of line for asking that question and that I needed to buck up and learn how that room worked. So when they refused to take the call, I notated the account as such complete with their names as being refused to answer a management call. Well that got me a 10 day suspension for all my efforts, to which I told them I would not be back.

Out of 16 people that I was in training class with a year ago there is 1 person still working. That is a rediculously high turn over rate. We were told in training that we would not be required to work holidays. What a joke that was. I worked Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. All with them saying "that's how call centers work". Ummm no it isn't. I've worked in call centers before and never had to work those type holidays.

In the time I've worked there I have had more migraines than I have ever had. Have developed a severe case of reflux from stress and a few other medical problems that all originate in stress. Since I quit earlier tonight I feel like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I only wish I had done this months ago.

Work/Life Balance

-5

Career Potential/Growth

-5

Location

-5

Work Environment

-5

I am really surprised this company continues to grow. I have been with AA for about 5 years now and I will be gone by the end of the month. I cannot handle wasting my life anymore.

Everything that people say is 100% true. Alpine will do whatever they need to do to earn maximum return on investment. This includes false expectations, lies, and ultimatums, and anything else you can think of. Morals are not a part of the business plan.

Let me start by saying, I was very successful. I am not getting fired, and I never once had any sort of corrective action.

Are there any other companies in the country, that do not have any sort of raise plan? Alpine does not offer even a cost of living raise every 5 years. Once you sign on for your pay rate, you can expect it to stay there until the end of time. The only way you will get a raise is to get a "promotion". THEN, you will be lucky if it equates to anything that will pay you more than the taxes taken out on that raise.

All of this - only if you kiss enough ass, and are lucky enough to live in the Denver area. DO NOT count on a promotion if at least one of those factors does not apply.

The reason the managers are inept, is because they do not hire the most qualified person. They hire cronies and loudmouths that buy in to the culture of screwing people over for cents on the dollar.

I will never forget a meeting I was in - the account manager actually offered "lying" as an alternative to a policy (of not providing your call center location). This is the mindset of the management.

Once you get past training (if you do), expect no communication unless it is to tell you about a new policy or where you are failing to meet your metrics. There is NOT a "hey good job" communication policy (only in the rarest few Team Leads). What you have to understand, is this company gets over 100,000 applications a year. They do not care about you.

I have seen many Team Leads in my years that would make good managers. I could name names, but out of respect for them I wont. They have been passed up (even one "Senior Team Leader" which was good at his job) for less qualified people, that naturally do a piss poor job once they are in the position.

Happy Alpine employees are either (brand)new, or delusional.

Before you go to work for this company - understand that you are LESS than a number like other call centers, at least someone knows your name there.

You will not get a raise, ever, and if you care enough to get a promotion to coach or something, you will make a fraction of a dollar more per hour. If you are stupid enough to be a Team Lead and have that opportunity, you will make a few more dollars, but will work double the hours you are now and have even LESS respect than an agent, and way less job security.

Your Benefits will completely suck, and not be worth having.

You will not have ANY paid time off. Instead there is a sham called "Total Rewards" which pays a "bonus" if you don't take a certain amount of time off. Trust me, the "bonus" is low and that's if you get it in the first place (even if you are eligible).

Your schedule flexibility is not a consideration. Working from home does not mean flexible schedules, so all you confused mothers go away now. You will be expected to maintain your schedule for at least 12 months and uphold that schedule with no more than a 5% out of compliance rate, or you will be looking at corrective action.

So consider this. Alpine is growing more than any other comparable company right now, even brick and mortar competitors. The benefits this gives the company is all retained in the top 2 or 3 levels of management. Agent base has seen no improvements, benefits, raises, recognition, ANYTHING and quite the opposite in fact for YEARS.

It makes no sense to work for this company. None.

You are literally better off, applying at your local gas station to run a register, even if you are a very qualified professional. It does not matter to this company, in fact that might make you less qualified for any type of advancement because you would probably shriek at the operations of this company.

Give me one good reason to work here and I'll tell you where you are confused.

Kiss my ass Alpine. I hope I speak to a Philippines agent next time I call one of your "clients".

You do "suck", and you should not feel good about what you have "accomplished". You treat your people like shit, and when you're all in your 80s I want you to think about how you have lied to people to get them to make you money, and treated them like dirt when they trusted you.

Thanks!

I worked for Alpine for over a year on the Sprint tech support program, in that time span I had 7 team leads and 4 account managers. In the beginning it was tolerable but the program has went straight to HE!! and I'm VERY happy to be gone. The instability itself says A LOT about the leadership and direction the program is going in. Personally, I don't think they"ll have that contract much longer because the turnover rate is OUT OF CONTROL and it can't be a problem with ALL the CCP's, at some point you have to take a look at the leadership. The team leads are absentee, disrespectful, and aren't very knowledgeable. They don't do sh!t but collect a paycheck and really Alpine doesn't need them because they serve NO PURPOSE. Anyone that isn't taking calls is USELESS because there is NO way for Alpine to monitor what the Team leads are doing. At least the CCP's are logged into the phones actually working. How do they even know the team leads are working? Makes you say hmmmmmmmmm. May want to think about that Alpine CEO.The team leads are getting paid to shop and run errands so why shouldn't the CCP's get paid to pump their breast milk and walk the dog? Sounds fair to me, as the old saying goes "what's good for the goose is good for the gander." Another problem with this program is sprint's customers are REALLY bottom of the totem pole and having to talk to these caliber of people day in and day out for 8 hours straight will make you run forest, run forest, run. lol. Overall I give this place a big whopping -10000000, if you get a call for the sprint program tell them he!! to the nawl.. lol

On a side note, I don't think people can read for comprehension so I'm going to break it down for the illiterates. The name of this site is called JOB VENT, are you with me so far, it's a place for people to come and share their experiences, whine, complain or give kudos to their job. So it completely throws me when I see people posting here about someone coming on here whining and complaining. HELLO!!!!! THAT'S WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO DO!!!!!! THAT'S WHAT THE SITE IS SET UP FOR!!!!!! DUH!!!! so go to mcd's or bk and buy a clue, read the posts for what they're worth and keep it moving.

Who of thought that a place of business would expect you to work for your pay? I mean seriously, you want me to work for the money I get paid? No way, I should be able to sit around and complain about taking calls working from home. When you find that job that pays you to do nothing but what you want to, please post it here, I want a job there.

Sit around and complain about anyone with a job 'better' than yours, they don't deserve it, they don't have the experience, they don't know what they're doing. DO you even know their resume? DO you even know them? No, you just want to complain because they have a position you want. Get over it, hit metrics, come to work and move up, the same as any company. You can't start at the top unless you own the business.

The forced to work people, chained to their desks, unable to do as they please crack me up on here. Seriously thank you for the entertainment. What a bunch of whiners. If you do not like to work and it is apparent you do not, then don't work for Alpine, there are plenty of people waiting in line to take your place. Quit and give someone a job who wants one, who has work ethic to 'earn' their paycheck.

Either you have the discipline, desire and work ethic to work from home or you don't. The complainers, whiners and big babies on here whining constantly obviously do not. Go work at McD's or BK see how well you enjoy that day in and day out, you'd be begging for Alpine to take you back.

Co-worker Competence

-5

Work Environment

0

Before I'm called a "Shill", let me state that my feedback on this company reflects my own personal experience working there. Just as I can't tell anyone else that their own personal experience is wrong, no one here has the right to tell me otherwise. I worked with this company in 2008, and at the time I was a hungry college student that was desperate for work. I put in my application at every fast food/retail place in town and could not find work. This job was at first my ray of sunlight, in that I would be able to eat something other than spam and ramen day in day out. I ended up doing very well at this job, but when a better position presented itself I took it.

This was just a job. With my school loans and scholarship, I was only getting back around $50 a month. This job helped me to better survive, because who here can survive on $50 a month? I did not care for my co-workers but I wasn't there to socialize with them about their kids anyway. One co-worker in particular always had a sad story. We all have it bad, just some of us try to take it in stride and strive for better.

There were lots of system issues and many programs that would not load. The support I received to fix these issues left alot to be desired. Not only did I miss some work with these issues, but the rude support never helped. My TL was also NEVER at work. One day, I got a email from someone stating that they were my new TL. So there was definitely a issue with communication as well.

I am the first in my family to graduate from college, and now I'm working on my masters. If you've had bad experiences with this company, feel free to tell others about it. If you've had good experiences with this company, feel free to tell others about it. If you want to argue over who is right and who is wrong, take it elsewhere. I hope that whoever reads my post knows that again, my experiences are from WHEN I was with this company in 2008. If you read through many of the other responses, it doesn't look like much has changed. If you have to choose between working here and somewhere else, I'd suggest working somewhere else.

I am new to AA but this is my fourth "call center" job. This is the first time I have worked from home. Yes, the pay is very low, but I was well aware of the pay, shift, benefits, etc. when I accepted the job. For those of you complaining about being "chained to your chair" and not getting to sign off your phone whenver it pleases you, this is what working in a call center is like. It is the same when you work in a brick and morter call center. It is NOT for everyone and if you don't think you can handle sitting with a headset on taking back to back calls, then this is not the job for you. Just because you work from home does not mean that ANY company will pay you to pump your breast milk or walk your dog. Get real! You are being paid to do a job, and that is what you are expected to do. If you don't like that job, just quit! Anyway, EVERYTHING abuot this job was explained to me prior to me accepting it. I am sure it is the same for everyone. If you accepted a job knowing that the pay and working conditions were not right for you, then shame on you.
