The pay was alright starting out with 9.50 an hour for part time in a small town. Eventually after waiting 2 years I got full time getting an increase to 10.31 an hour. I went from working in a in store branch making tons of incentive and meeting my goals to regular branch never meeting goals. The goals at the typical branch were horrible and I never made them because I ran the stand alone Drive Thru by myself and it doesnt have a walk in attached. I had to refer customers to branch down the road, good luck with them going down with your name. The assistant magaer would break out in hives every month from District Manager getting on her case about goals and then make us stand out side by atm trying to get accounts and ever suggested us wearing dunce caps if we didnt meet our daily goals. I'm glad I left but I do miss the hourly wage.

Layoffs everywhere. Management doesn't have the b*lls to tell you what's going on. Too scared to fire people but wait until ne wmanagement does the dirty work for them. Bunch of people that want you to kiss their butts and bend over backward to save their jobs. Incompetent people working there and no one in upper management cares unless numbers are down. Go elsewhere-this company needs to get their act together.

NCM use to be a great place to work...then they seemed to suddenly stop caring about their employees. Then to make matters worse, they stopped caring about quality and sent jobs overseas. Quality went down, money was lost, so instead of admitting they made a mistake, the rehired some of the people they let go as temps to clean up the mess that was made by the offshore workers. Now that they've been bought out, some of the jobs are coming, however PNC is now cutting jobs in area that really needs it. Way to contribute to the community and economy.

Benefits

2

Job Security

1

Work/Life Balance

1

Career Potential/Growth

-1

Location

-3

Co-worker Competence

-2

Work Environment

-3

The pay is descent with pay incentives yet every year the incentives get lower and lower all the while still emphasizing for you to sell more. Every action is monitored and a simple "Thanks" instead of a "Thank you" uttered on the phone can mean a "coaching" session.

The Benefits are nice if you don't like a paycheck. Every option seemed to gobble up net pay and the options didn't seem to cover very much. Nevertheless, medical insurance now a days is a must so I stay with it even though every year the options and price become less attractive.

For the most part co-workers & supervisors are friendly and respectful. The company tries to improve worker morale by having sales contests and rewards to get you away from the constant anger expressed from customers being hit with fees. It's also not easy to sleep at night when you worry about the elderly customer you referred to open up a credit card knowing full well she'll probably just end up in debt because she expressed hesitation to getting one. Did I mention every call is encouraged to sell? While it's not required... not making a sale gets you "coached" as well.

As far as opportunities, the high sellers are broke up into "Mega" teams of sellers who have done well. Yet, it seems eventually most teams become "Mega" teams so I wonder if it's just a gimmick to keep you selling... and eventually there will be a Mega Mega team.

People who have worked in the call center a long time and enjoy their job seem to all display the same pattern of behavior. Paranoid, jumpy and jittery movements on top of being very solitaire. I've noticed I've gotten sick a lot along with many of my other co-workers... then again, a call center is always full of germs.

All in all, it's a good place to make some money before getting into a real career but making a long term stay will leave you in the ruts as you're constantly worrying if you're making quota, going to be fired, or the general guilt of basically manipulating people's choices as to what to do with their money.

Respect

-1

Benefits

1

Work Environment

-2

Overall, I wouldn't be too sad about getting laid off. The location and pay is decent, but it is way too stressful sometimes. Dealing with angry people all day every day takes its toll on you, and the place is essentially a big brother environment - every single little thing you do gets monitored. You have to sell a lot of stuff, but that's pretty hard to do when everybody it poor and ticked off. You feel like a total sheister sometimes. People get fired for pretty lame reason. Not at all customer friendly - if I knew I wasn't going to get into trouble, I would tell customers not to bother with this bank. Some people of worked there for years and I don't know how they can stand it. Hopefully I can find another job soon.

Management is incompetent and does not appreciate employees. I was promised promotions and told that my pay would be increased quickly after hire. Nearly a year later, I have not received any pay increases or promotions. Management promised me promotions and career advancement in order to get me in the door. I will complete my MBA in May, 2009 and completely intend to find an employer that treats employees with dignity and honesty.

I would just like to say that if you are thinking about working for National City Bank then I hope you are good at kissing butt. That is the number one thing that upper level management is looking for in a employee. If you treat other people with dignity and respect and work hard day in and day out then you will go no where with this company. This was my first job out of college and I excelled at what I did but received zero respect from upper management. The upper level management at this company has no idea how to properly run a business. These are the same "executives" who spent millions of dollars buying back National City stock when it was at 38 dollars +, it was down to 2.99 on July 15, 2008.

The upper management of this corporation are terrible. As a manager, i was never appreciated. My direct supervisor (DSE) was the most incompetent person i have ever met. She had absolutly no personality. I would not recomend anyone look for employement with this corporation.

Politics politics politics. If you like that sort of thing - then apply. Bad decisions made by overcompensated top executives that have left the company have resulted in a downward spiral of the bank. The mortgage fee money grab of the early 2000's were just as bad an idea when they were being done as now. Layoffs, poor morale, and a generally antagonistic attitude by most people in the corporate offices are the norm these days. The CEO had the audacity to take out a full page ad in the paper to try to make us feel better - yeah right.
