Renzenberger is a big company ran by small minded people, who doesn't appreciate it's employees. How can you expect the local Management, to respect the drivers when the circus known as upper Management doesn't. We are under paid, over worked, and unappreciated for the work that we do. We put ourselves at risk at the so called sites they have use go to, I would feel safer in the middle of an earthquake compared to some of the sites. Furthermore how can you write drivers up for unknowingly breaking a rule when Management does it knowingly, and lie about it. How can Renzenberger try to hold drivers to a high standard when Renzenberger's standards only go curb high. If Renzenberger paid 2 dollars more I would be able to buy a Happy Meal for everyone in my family at one time, instead of taking turns each pay period. This is the worst company to work for in this lifetime or any other. I've never worked under such unprofessional individuals in my life, and I wouldn't recommend my worst enemy to come work for this 3 ring circus. If anyone think that this is a GREAT JOB, I feel sorry for you as well as your family.

The company's very un-professional! Again.....very un-professional!! They'd lied on their job posting! They want you to pick up a stranger behind the bushes, or behind the great wall of China, or inside the cave! That should have been their posting from the beginning. Don't beaten around the bush! There's job seekers out there; that in need and desperately wanted to work and they earned a decent income to pay for their family needs. I felt this job or this manager wants to put you out there to get "KILL". Good Luck.

Firstly, good luck to the Chicago drivers with the Union. Hope we get a Union going here too.

The working conditions (the van) are not bad, though since they quit swaping out high mileage vans i've spent a good deal of time sitting in the shop waiting (un-paid of course) on it to be repaired. The lack of ANY benifits is lousy. The lack of paid vacation and sick days (no matter how long you've been there) is crappy. The wage freeze is rediculous as is the bonus freeze. I was told by my regional manager when i hired on that i would make an average of $10 an hour, that was a big fat lie. I'm always stuck at home cos i never know when i'm going to be called out whether i'm at the top of the board or the bottom.

On the plus side. The railroad crews have all been really nice to me, even going as far as buying me lunch and even a Christmas present. Also, the job itself is easy, the difficult part is dealing with the fatigue, and trying to stay awake when you've been up for 20hrs straight cos you get up at 9am and don't get called out til 10 or 11pm to take a 500mile roundtrip.

All in all, they need to get off our backs for accidents that are UNAVOIDABLE like getting rear ended, or hitting a deer that ran from outside your field of vision, and praise the drivers who do well and get there on time and don't get in to accidents and so on and so forth. I know they did for a while there, a couple weeks or so, then it was back to, 'what could this driver have done to avoid being reversed in to at a drive thru?' REDICULOUS!! Go back to the praising please Renzenberger, its much better for morale and employee satisfaction.

I dont know what everybodys problem is. This is one of the easiest jobs ever. I been here for awhile now and if you show up to work when your scheduled and follow the safety rules, it's easy. Some of the safety rule (like backing and stuff) seem a bit much but who cares. Most drivers are ok but some get on my nerves. The $ ain't the best but I knew that before I took the job so I can't really complain.

I've been working for Renzenberger for nearly six months now. The work environment is innovative, focused, and definitely focused on safety. I ranked the pay a 4 since I believe Renzenberger pays competitive wages. I ranked respect a five (5) since I am always treated with respect and dignity. The benefits are in line with a company of this size - job security so far has been wonderful. Renzenberger has allowed me to balance my work and life well. As far as career potential, I've asked around and those who are willing to develop their skills are encouraged to do so and are often rewarded with promotions and growth opportunities. The location is very clean and convenient for my commute. My co-workers, peers, and manager, are all very competent and driven. The work environment is very friendly and open. Overall, my experience has been wonderful.

This job sucks!!!!
I worked there for 1 month and let me tell you. The pay is crappy, managers are crappy, co workers cry all day or talking about each other. This company think we are robots and want you to do everything there way. You get a write up for coughing the wrong way. I only been here for 1 month and have a thousand people talking about a union ( which i can care less about ) because this is there life. I quit this job because the supervisor told me that i had a write up for not answering my phone at 3 in the morning ( when i just made it home at 1 in the morning from a run ). I never seen such an unorignalize group of people. My check was 500 dollars after working 2 weeks morining, noon, evening and night. The 500 was only enough to my cable bill paid forget about rent. Some one need to end this company asap I'm better off on walfare then to put up all this crap for 500. The people who been at that company for awhile and like it are people that are mentelly challaged, don't have nothing or stay with there mama. If you want to be challage to see if you can handle the pressure then this is a job for you. If you are like me you will not stay at this place very long

Pros - The actual job is easy, drive a Suburban around hauling BNSF crews.
Most of the crews I've had know our job sucks and tend not to give me a hard time, the crew members I do transport that mess with me get reported for any slight safety violation (I can become a real prick if I have to.)
It beats being homeless.

Cons - Awful pay, no benefits, no vacation time.
You get called in on your day off 9 times out of 10.
High turn around. Most drivers are fired or quit within 6 months.
Company treats you like trash. Instead of talking to you like an adult, they give you little write ups for any screw up like children. And they will write you up for anything and everything.
If anyone files a hotline report against you, you're at fault. No questions asked.
Even with their "devotion" to safety, you get written up for refusing a trip due to fatigue, illness, day off or any other reason.
Some area supervisors get little power trips and attempt to write you up for anything.
Some dispatchers are rude and/or incompetent.
Company higher-ups set unrealistic safety goals and firmly believe 100% of accidents are the individual driver's fault regardless of what the police reports say.
You have to be on top of your DOT logs and compare them to your pay stub. The company will try to cheat you out of a few cents here and there.
You'll be fired for taking a vacation.
Even though you're issued a company phone with your vehicle, dispatch will always call you on your personal phone using up your minutes.
Vehicles with a drive cam installed are super sensitive to rocking motion and are easily set off just by turning the vehicle onto a side street unless you're doing less than 5MPH. Depending on your supervisor, you may get written up for that.
If your vehicle is involved in an accident, it's your fault. No questions asked.

All in all, one should only work for this company if they are on the verge of living on the street like I was. There's no hope for promotion, no raises, no bonuses, no vacation, no benefits. Work here only long enough to secure yourself a better job where you're treated with a little respect and like a human being where the bosses actually care about their people.

hello everyone.... i have been working for renzenberger for 9 months out of the cicero location, this company has got to be one of the worst mistakes. my experience is its a shame that they have incompetent people working in managment position. the regionals, site supervisors are uneducated and lack respect. its a shame as bad as the company is that they have individuals that make the experience an even worse experience for its employees. this company does not deserve the workers they employ. they hire and fire some of the hardest working people an its unfortunate that they still exist . underpaid , abused , over worked, and unappreciated is everyones cry. the sad thing is no one who has the authority to make changes is listening. hopefully every one out of the cicero locations and chicago land period will vote for this union. for everyones sake this will increase pay and cushion job security. the turn over rate is so high at this company that goverment should look into this. as far as the office staff a change will come. they need to rehire tim and get rid of his replacement asap. that alone may help , it pays to have some one in a higher position who care and respect drivers instead of an emotionally scorned individual in play. i wish everyone good luck and please dont sign none of those bogus camera violation write ups or any thing else they cant force you to sign any thing. speak up for your self trust me its harder to fight for your job if you acknowledge mistakes that are out of your hands.

its a shame that they have all this power, when in reality we have the power to enforce fair treatment , pay ansd benifits

I started working for this company in October of 2009, training really sucked! The person that trained our class made the job seem sooooooo easy! Well It's not at all! I don't expect to work an "easy" job, but this place will drive you to seek professional help, literally! They are so tight with money, they eliminated several postions a year ago, so I was told. After training I was put on the floor to sit with people to be trained in a actual dispatch environment. The person I trained with first informed me that I was sitting at her desk and that was not going to change! This person even went as far as making my training so miserable there were days I would go home crying. I found out later that this same person had actually told someone else they were traing that she wished the trainee would go to lunch and not come back. I understand that this has been an ongoing thing when this particular person trains new dispatchers. I also found out that the desk I was assigned to used to be 3 different desks. So, I was getting paid for 1 job, but was expected to do the job of 3 people! For the most part, there were 3 managers there that tried their best to assist me when my dispatch board went crazy. There was 1 co worker that always was willing to help me out! There is also a co worker that refuses to help any one else out and gets up to get coffee and says " I know your busy, but I'm gonna go get coffe", that person was great at leaving me hanging when I got really busy. The pay for what you have to deal with really sucks, the hours killed me. I got to see my son 1 hour every day before I went to work, thats bad when your child lives with you. On my days off all I would do is sleep, working 12 hour shifts with " no lunch break", but u do get three 15 min breaks. But don't count on your breaks, you are not guarenteed your breaks! If you don't stay on top of your break time, you miss your break and no one will be bothered with that as long as they get their break. Some people are allowed to read books at their desks, and get by with it even if you bring it to a managers attention. The manager will say " well, I havent seen it, so until I do I can't do anything about it! Needless to say, if you know the right people, you can do what ever you want and that includes calling in sick alot and getting buy with it, or " pulling a posey". I have had an excellent work history, every job I have worked at I have been a hard working and dedicated employee, even going as far as working on my days off and going into work because they called me in due to needing extra help at a drop of a hat. This company does not care about it's employees, I have NEVER quit a job, but this place wrote me up for being sick and said I was a no call no show, I even told them I could prove that I called in, and nothing was said to that! I was also wrote up because I asked to get off work 1 hour early because my sister was having surgery. There was no problem with that 3 weeks before when I asked for it off. But being sick 2 days , wrote up for that and being wrote up for the leaving 1 hour early, even though I confirmed it with my supervisor that it would not be a problem. It seems funny to think that I was getting alot of verbal and written praise about how good I was doing then they pull this crap. When I was cleaning out my locker, I was told that I could not take my employee Training and handbook, that it was company property, even though it was given to me in trainging. This company will use you up and get rid of you or make it so bad of a work place that you dread going to work every day!!!! Thats a fact!!!! Working 450pm to 5am with out a lunch break is against the law, but they say it's ok, they voted on it that way. I wonder what the labor board would say! I would say, stay as far away from this company as possible, drivers are rude, some site supers are so lazy they want you to do their job for them even if you are swamped with things to do. Kyle, Matt, Don, Randy, you guys were great to work with and talk to on a regular basis, I will miss talking to you!
