I would like to know is it true that if you are an employee at a Bath and Body Works location that you are NOT ALLOWED to shop at ANY Bath and Body Works ANYWHERE ELSE BESIDES AT THE LOCATION WHERE YOU WORK????? A shift leader at another Bath and Body Works location threatened me my job because I was shopping at a different BBW store than from the one I work at. Where I work is in another city that I don't live in and I would prefer to shop at the one closer to my home. I had no idea that I could be FIRED for doing so! I think it is completely ABSURD! I could not believe it! I did not find that information anywhere in the policy handbook and if that was so I wish could have been warned. It does not make sense! What if I was out of state and needed to make a purchase at a BBW? Should I risk my job and buy what I need or should I travel hours to BBW where I work just to make a purchase? Someone please clear this up for me!

not to my knowledge, they cant make you only shop at that one, its a corp. not a privately owned shop. i would challenge that, cause i know in the store i work in in boston we are allowed to shop at anyone and use our discounts at any of them

It IS in the P&P book that they encourage you to shop in your own store. It's to eliminate people being dishonest and giving their employee info to friends who shouldn't be getting their discount. However, if there is something your store doesn't have/carry, or if you are out of the area, you can shop at other BBW stores. I would verbalize this to your SM, and let him/her know that you sometimes like to shop at your local store. I would, however, recommend that you learn to shop in your own store on the days you are scheduled to be there. If you DO shop at another store, you will need your paystub as well as picture ID.

Like SissyQ wrote, it is policy that you should shop at your own store. It helps your store's numbers when you shop there. It's also supposed to prevent you from buying at a discount at your store then returning or exchanging at full price at another store. After almost a decade, I've never heard of anyone being fired for shopping at a different store. Some managers (like you found out) take this policy deadly seriously. Back when there were flagship stores, we were allowed to shop at our nearest flagship. Those are now gone. You might want to ask your SM if you are allowed to shop at the outlet stores.
