Primary issues in Tampa are at the branch level.....starting with the branch manager (BM) and working down to the Casualty Manager (CM) and Casualty Consultant (CC).
Pay is good and was never an issue when I worked there.
With regard to respect, unless you are in the "inner circle of the three" (BM CM and CC) your voice and opinion will never be heard. Although you may be right in your opinion and can back it up with documentation, statute, case law, etc...you will always be wrong.
Work/Life balance does not exist due to unreasonable workloads and "stretch goals". A "stretch goal" is simply another way of saying "something that can not be attained that we will use against you when the goal is not met".
The company was a nice place to work in previous years however after several branch manager changes the morale has been driven into the grave. It's made quite obvious that each person is nothing more than the sum of their metrics thereby dehumanizing and demoralizing everyone.
There are several good quality adjusters and Unit Managers at the Tampa Office. Unfortunately they are forced to report to and bow down to the "inner circle of the three". If they try to be heard and have a say in any claim or process they become labeled as a "problem" and have to spend the rest of their time looking over their shoulders because once they are on the bad list, it's only a matter of time before they are no longer employed.
At one point, it was a good place to work after a new Branch Manager was brought in. In the short time she was there (approximately 6 months) she was able to increase morale and make people feel valued. But as it goes in life, all good things must come to an end and she transferred to the Sacramento office to try and help straighten out their issues.
The branch manager who was then brought in has managed to take an office that was seeing strong improvements in morale, productivity, better audits, etc....and turn it into a place that makes you feel as if unemployment in this terrible job market would be a better option than going into the office everyday.
To those who are still under the current regime in Tampa, I say good luck to you all. Sometimes it takes making a difficult decision to leave, or having that decision made for you, to make you see that there is no job worth your health and sanity. Take it from someone who has lived through it, the grass can be greener on the other side.
To those in the BM, CM and CC positions in Tampa, I say this: Understand that you would not like being treated the way you are treating those who report to you and that you are not the only ones who have worthwhile opinions. Learn the golden rule and just maybe one day you'll become decent managers who people enjoy working for instead of the abrasive, insincere and arrogant people you currently are.
