I know everyone is a little bit nervous with “2.0” coming out and possible losing our jobs. As a lowly Claim Rep I do have a possible solution…Regionals.

What do our Regionals do? I know what a Claim Rep does, a Team Leader, and Manager but I am loss on what the difference between a "Regional" and a "Super Regional" is (who should have to where a cape if they are going to have Super in their title).

I know the Regionals send us cute daily emails on NPS, inventory, and BI’s but (and I am not sure if they knew this) we all have access to the same databases. I am sorry if you thought you were sending us some secret document. I do think it is very cute that you put words like “urgent” “must respond” and “important”. Really the only thing that is important in my day is helping the customer whose car is in a tow yard or the person who is hurt. I know it has been awhile since some of you have handled a claim but you could help an office out. Pick up a phone and take a statement or assist the Rep with liability. I am not sure if any file that scored standard because the Regional sent the Rep a note that said “Must be done today”.

When our “Super Regional” is looking at how to save cost I hope you can consider the above. Before you cut the little guy look at how may big guys (I say guys because there are not any women). I am sure that with all the bonus and stock options they will be able to spread their wings and fly to bigger and better things.

No one retires at prog, they are pushed out and cast aside. A few of them that have been around for 20+ years were lucky enough to have significant stock holdings so they were able to cash those in and retire early but no one retires the normal way. You know…..... advance gracefully, get to the appropriate period, and then leave the workforce and draw SSN with dignity. Look around you, ask around, have you heard one anyone having a normal retirement experience? Do you see anyone remotely close to retirement? The few people that “retired” where those that were disgusted and had the economic resources to hang up the gloves and flee the company. Prog chews you dry in the first few years up the the point they cant use you anymore.

I like the idea of wearing a cape if you are a Super Regional. Perhaps tights as well.

So true Brenda... for all current employees this is a warning regarding your employment or career with Progressive Insurance. So prepare wisely while you are employed with PGR because there will be an end for you.

Sorry people do get to retire at Prog. it's kind of like the old cow that they take out to pasture and no one ever sees them again and they get this new young buck in to take the old heifer's place-that's retirement at Prog. AKA 'reduction-in-force' that's retirement at Prog. Another example of Prog. retirement, read the highway and see all of the death notices on there-permanently retired, because I've noticed the people always seem to have been with Prog. for awhile in their Prog. obituary. So there you have it, retirement at Prog. 1. RIF or 2. STO, then termination or 3. Death either way, you don't work there anymore

oh and another thing, we are already on PCS 2.o in our branch. This time last year we had 20+ Clms. reps. this year less than 10 (now including MRRs & special lines & CPs) Where did all of the people go? Where did all of the claims go? CCU that's where. I give Prog. 2-3 yrs when all of the leases from the boom yrs. 2003, 2004, 2005 start expiring they won't be renewing them. They will start consolidating branches, more claims will go to the CCU. I've heard, we are going to start doing ESOs over the phone like all of the other companies, team leaders will be handling claims and supervising employees, how? Claims will be automatically assigned, like all other insurance companies. Not very far fetched, they are just starting to conform and reduce costs instead of trying to be a trailblazer like they used to be. We'll just be like GEICO, ALLSTATE, SF, ESURANCE, NATIONWIDE, with regional or centralized offices. It's not bad, just Progressive.

I'll have to work until I'm 100 but Progressive probably wont let me hang out for much longer.
