The District Manager in Orlando, Florida was arrested for DUI in November 2009 and is still on the job. Is being arested for DUI using good judement? Is it ethical to keep this person on the job. How would are customers fell about this matter?

Can a DM, BUD, CEO, please answer my question. Our company understandably is a private corporation that is motivated by $. I again want to emphasize that this is understandable, however where do you draw the line (ethically). When do you step back and say, we are profitable, we are proud of the investiagtors (and yes, reviewers) and everyone who works so hard to make usis profitable? When do you step back and understand we are humans and not robots and our workload is demanding and difficult, therefore increasing it is just not moral. Why is this company becoming so greedy and without morals or ethics? It baffles me becasue there are many great corporations out there who respect and reward their employees for their hard work. Every time we meet our deadlines or goals (with hard, exhausting work) management finds a way to pay us back with a big kick in the a$$. Why?

So is there any one else as fed up with the whole overloading of FI's then DMs stating they all FIs are required to put in mandatory overtime?!?! So far most of our district is on a CAP because of this issue. Improper zoning and overloading causing FIs to miss metrics and then of course blame is placed on the FI. Forget about talking to WLL, TL or DM their answer is deal with it!

Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of interviewing for an Investigator position in the Seattle area, and I'm concerned about some of the comments I'm seeing here. Are there some Seattle people out there who can give me an idea of what it's like working as an Investigator in the this area?

Okay. JD here is a suggestion instead of a complaint. There have been a lot of comments on here about incompetent TL's. Instead of having a DM just evaluate a TL I think the TL's team should also be able to evaluate their respective TL. The TL's team could evaluate the TL anonymously but if a FI wanted to provided his or her name on the evaluation they could. The DM could then provide the team's evaluation to the TL. If the teams evaluation of their TL is bad the TL would be put on probation for a time frame. If no improvement occurred during the probation period the TL would be out. Also when considering a raise for the TL the DM would have to take into consideration the TL's teams evaluation. I know this type of anonymous evaluation could be set up through Survey Monkey. The evaluation could consist of numeric scores as well as comments. I know some on JV might not agree with this but if they have other suggestions or something to add to my suggestion they could. This could also be done for DMs. Thoughts?

I have 5+ years in the field with USIS.

I have no career growth potential as a field investigator in my district. During 2009 and early 2010 my district demoted more than 1/3 of its middle management staff (Team Leaders) and did away with the positions. Being a field investigator is literally the only job available in my district; there are no lateral movement possibilities. I would have to relocate at my own expense just to put myself in the running for a promotion or lateral move.

I have no work/life balance as a field investigator in my district. I make the greatest effort possible to meet all production, quality and timeliness requirements; I typically work nights, weekends, holidays and overtime - and that's not including the "critical" periods when I am called upon to do even more. It plays hell with my personal responsibilities to spouse, children, family, friends, household, church, etc. I routinely have difficulty meeting my personal obligations. I am rarely able to keep doctor/dentist appointments or lunch/dinner dates without rescheduling multiple times and I have finally given up on keeping a gym schedule. I usually don't make it to family get-togethers anymore. Don't be fooled by working at home and setting your own schedule. All working from home means is that you are always at work.

I was previously employed in a much more demanding job that did not negatively affect my life this way.

I suggest bypassing USIS if you have other employment opportunities available.

When I got this job I was so excited. I thought it was the perfect job, work from home, get a car.
The training was too brief and inadequate. The OJT was too brief. I was working 65 miles from home and from the very beginning I was given 800-900moc a month. I was working 80 hours a week, 40 off the books. My stats were excellent, of course, due to all the extra hours.
It has been a couple years now and I am more comfortable in the job but the expectations and workload keep increasing...the more you do the more you will be given. If you don't get the work done then your stats suffer...so they give you too much work and you get penalized. It's all about production, production, production and to hell with the employee burn out. If you are considering this company go into it with your eyes open. Work for a couple years to get the experience and then move on. They will chew you up and spit you out.

Im a newer FI and have been reaading thse posts and I am really frustrated. Why are we so overwelmed with work right out of NIT. We are never given time to learn and the initial training and OJT is really bad. I have been working my cases and I can never get ahead due to the travel and cases load I have. I have complained to my WWL and TL, and apparently from talking to other new employees we all feel the same. No wonder this site is so bad with telling new people look for other venues. Is this ever going to end or at least be manageable. I am starting to get feelings of wanting to resign and possibly see an attorney or file complaint with a labor board. The job is great, but the conditions and lack of training as well as the totally unrealiztic workload is overbaring. Its effecting my wife and kids also. JD, I see your on here and I think you work in WPA, is there anything that can be done about our conditions. Don't want to leave and I think I do a good job, but I'm really starting to get concerned. Thanks.
