When I got this job I was so excited. I thought it was the perfect job, work from home, get a car.
The training was too brief and inadequate. The OJT was too brief. I was working 65 miles from home and from the very beginning I was given 800-900moc a month. I was working 80 hours a week, 40 off the books. My stats were excellent, of course, due to all the extra hours.
It has been a couple years now and I am more comfortable in the job but the expectations and workload keep increasing...the more you do the more you will be given. If you don't get the work done then your stats suffer...so they give you too much work and you get penalized. It's all about production, production, production and to hell with the employee burn out. If you are considering this company go into it with your eyes open. Work for a couple years to get the experience and then move on. They will chew you up and spit you out.

Im a newer FI and have been reaading thse posts and I am really frustrated. Why are we so overwelmed with work right out of NIT. We are never given time to learn and the initial training and OJT is really bad. I have been working my cases and I can never get ahead due to the travel and cases load I have. I have complained to my WWL and TL, and apparently from talking to other new employees we all feel the same. No wonder this site is so bad with telling new people look for other venues. Is this ever going to end or at least be manageable. I am starting to get feelings of wanting to resign and possibly see an attorney or file complaint with a labor board. The job is great, but the conditions and lack of training as well as the totally unrealiztic workload is overbaring. Its effecting my wife and kids also. JD, I see your on here and I think you work in WPA, is there anything that can be done about our conditions. Don't want to leave and I think I do a good job, but I'm really starting to get concerned. Thanks.

JD1961: This is not about about making everyone happy as you state. These corrupt & dishonest business practices cost USIS-Altegrity lots and lots of $$. You are losing potentially wonderful FI's/leaders out there (referring to new hires who read this stuff at JobVent). Morale among existing FI's is low and that has a price tag attached to it. You have employees who have openly posted at JV that they are screwing this company anyway possible, and that has a price tag attached to it ! You don't have to look far to find an unhappy FI, really. And most of the unhappiness stems from seemingly dishonest management practices, which has the biggest price tag attached to it. Why have you not taken action prior to last week when you made your ID known @ JV? There are surveys, town halls, all kinds of data. I DON'T BELIEVE YOU. Social Media Guy recently came on JV and said the same line of bs you are spewing. Prior to him, it was that Johns fellow, Corporate Communications moron. How are you any different? Already, you are acknowledging you can't solve all problems but can [try] and secure answers. Who cares about answers? I can get those by just asking my TL. We want results, JD1961!!

I worked at the bottom of the bottom: in Files on the OPM contract. It was extremely hard labor. We lifted thousands of bins of paper and files per week. We dealt with a lot of bruises, back strains, rotator cuff injuries, joint injuries, as well as paper cuts and staple cuts- to the point where we didn't feel ourselves bleeding any more. Not only did we deal with our own injuries, we would get cases covered in OTHER PEOPLE'S BLOOD due to the severity of the staple/paper cuts. Then, we had to meet unattainable production standards for processing all of the paperwork and deadlines for closing the cases. We were expected to have knowledge about the cases that were well above our clearances and pay grades.

When we tried to get ourselves out of that department, it took a lot of backside-kissing, string-pulling, or simply having to wait 3-5 years of consistently meeting and exceeding the difficult physical labor production standards. The majority of the people in this branch were college graduates or had retired from decades of work at major employers in the area. A few were straight out of high school.

There is very little respect in the other branches for Files employees, and while we were not stupid and came up with good ideas for production and saving money, we rarely got the acknowledgement for our ideas. Generally, we would present the ideas and then have people from other departments steal them and implement them at our expense.

Not to mention the fact that the Iron Mountain facility is just out in the middle of NOWHERE. The roads are not properly maintained in the winter, so the employees on the bottom with the cheap cars (because we couldn't afford 4 wheel drive) are put at risk daily to make it to work, because Files has to show up. Every day. No matter what.

And, to top off all of this, WE DID IT WITHOUT MUCH COMPLAINT. AT ALL!

Files is the most under-appreciated of the USIS team, their jobs are the first to get cut, their raises are the first to get slashed, their benefits are the first to get revoked, and they don't get sent home early- EVER! But, they keep showing up day-in and day-out. They keep forcing themselves to get better, learning more about these cases, getting faster, changing their procedures every week, coming up with really good ideas to make things more efficient.

So, for all of you reviewers and investigators who thought that you had it rough, just be grateful for what you have. You could have gotten stuck in Files...

Hey JD1961, this tread is for you. I have some concerns also, especially with the nepotism in the company. I am aware that some managers have their wives or girlfriends hired, friends of family that have no experience what so ever, and are now working with the company. How does this benefit the company, especially when there are many more experienced people applying for positions. HR must be aware of this and it's a growing problem. Shortly afterward, many of these people get "cushie" WWL or TL positions with limited field expierence. This also applies to TL positions, and there is a really bad taste with how these people are chosen. Friends, clicks, and nothing to do with real management qualified people. We have many highly experienced managers and former Exec's working the field and they are considered for nothing because of our horrible way of picking leaders. This has been discussed prior, and has become a waste of time from our FI aspect. Ok, lets starts really speaking about this stuff and make some positive changes and getting the "right" people in these positions to make this company work.

Please if you have an opinion please do not work for this company. They only want mindless drones that will eat a big $hit sandwich and ask for MORE!

So I've got an in person interview coming up which, until I start reading stuff on this site, I was really excited about. It sounds like the big complaint is getting hounded if a report isn't done on time. Is this the worst part about the FI position and how bad is the hounding. Is there anything good about working for USIS?

The reason for SAP: "Hireright inks deal with SAP". We've gotten in bed with the monster. My bet is, USIS using SAP was part of the deal. Google it.

The company is already laying the foundation for why raises will be minimal, if at all. Losing too much money this year. Well then, why don't we buy some more companies (11/09 Hireright acquired a drug testing company), AND/OR hire more unqualified managers/tl's. Seems to always be money for that. Just no raises.

I say start cleaning house from the top down!
